Journey
What began as an interest in computers and digital creativity evolved into one of electronic music's biggest success stories. Alan Olav Walker, better known by his stage name Alan Walker born on August 24, 1997, in Northampton, England, to a British father and Norwegian mother, he relocated to Bergen, Norway, with his family at the age of two, where he discovered music production through online tutorials. Combining his passion for technology, programming, graphic design, gaming culture, and cinematic soundtracks, Walker developed a signature sound defined by emotional melodies, immersive production, and atmospheric storytelling. Since emerging in the mid-2010s, he has recorded through labels including MER Musikk, Sony Music Entertainment, RCA Records, NoCopyrightSounds (NCS), Columbia Records, and Relentless Records, becoming one of the defining names in contemporary electronic music.
Walker's international breakthrough came when the independently released instrumental "Fade" was reimagined as "Faded," featuring vocals by Iselin Solheim. Its remarkable commercial success saw it top international charts, earn multi-platinum and diamond certifications across numerous territories, and attract billions of streams worldwide. Building on that success, he continued to expand his artistic vision through releases including "Sing Me to Sleep," "Alone," "Tired," "All Falls Down," "Darkside," "Diamond Heart," "On My Way," "Alone, Pt. II," "Heading Home," "The Drum," "Who I Am," "Children of the Sun," and "Story of a Bird." His catalog also includes the studio albums “Different World,” “World of Walker,” “Walkerverse Pt. I & II,” “Walkerworld,” and “Walkerworld 2.0.” Throughout his career, he has collaborated with artists including Ava Max, Sabrina Carpenter, Farruko, Noah Cyrus, Au/Ra, Gavin James, Tomine Harket, Hans Zimmer, Steve Aoki, K-391, Putri Ariani, Peder Elias, Kylie Cantrall, King, and Iselin Solheim, demonstrating a versatility that extends across electronic, pop, Latin, and orchestral music.
Alan Walker's achievements have earned widespread international recognition. He received MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Norwegian Act in 2016, 2017, and 2018, two Spellemann Awards in 2016 for Song of the Year and International Success of the Year, and the NRJ Music Award Norge. Beyond these honors, his music has generated more than 50 billion streams across digital platforms, while "Faded" remains one of the most successful electronic songs of the streaming era. His signature hooded persona, distinctive Walker symbol, and global fan community known as the Walkers have become defining elements of his artistic identity.
Through major international tours, including the Walkerverse Tour and Walkerworld Tour, he continues to captivate audiences with immersive live performances and emotionally driven productions. From a self-taught bedroom producer to one of EDM's most recognizable global stars, Alan Walker has redefined what independent creativity can achieve while continuing to inspire a new generation of electronic music producers.
